JEFF

I was born in Houston, Texas.  As soon as I can recall I wanted to get out of the city.

Hunting and fishing are passions of mine.  I have fished freshwater lakes, grew up a lot of my life on the Colorado river, fished salt water both in the bays and offshore Gulf of Mexico over the years. I was also fortunate enough to move to our rural property in La Grange TX.

In 1986 I visited Alaska for the first time, catching silver salmon and trout on the Kenai River and driving most of the state and the Alcan highway up and back.  I could not get away from the desire for Alaska and have been graced to fish and hunt from the Southeast up to the arctic circle, and out to the peninsula.   We have caught all the salmon species, halibut and most of the trout/char/grayling all over the state. In 1995 I married the love of my life, Carolyn.  We honeymooned in Alaska where she caught her first King salmon of appx 45 pounds in the Kenai River.

Currently the Sr. Guide / Operations and logistics lead for Phantom Tri-River Charters in Talkeetna, Alaska’s River Wild Adventures out of Farewell as a moose, sheep, bear, bison guide, and for Frosty View Lodge out of Cold Bay, for Brown Bear. I enjoy teaching both hunting and fishing to anyone that’s willing to listen.  And I try my best to explain the why of everything we do, rather than just the typical “do this” attitude.

I also turned 60 in January of 2025.

ANDREW

I grew up in Southern California and was introduced to fly fishing in the beautiful Eastern Sierras. From the first cast I was hooked catching brown trout, Lahontan cutthroat, and rainbow trout. Once I finished my service time in the United States Marine Corps, I packed up everything and made the move to the Texas Hill country where I have been doing guided fly fishing and conventional as well. My target species during summer are large mouth, small mouth bass, sun fish and spotted Gar. During wintertime I am out chasing trout on the Guadalupe River. Now I am happy to be the Lead Guide at Phantom Tri-River Charters and made Alaska my new home in 2025!

ANTHONY

I am a lifelong Alaskan and a proud third-year fishing guide. Growing up fishing the pristine rivers and lakes of Alaska, I’ve developed a deep knowledge of this states breathtaking wilderness and waters. Sharing my passion for fishing is the highlight of my work, and there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing your face light up as you reel in your catch. If I’m not on the water, you can find me in the classroom studying for my civil engineering degree.

SAM

Growing up in Delaware, I got my first taste of fishing in neighborhood ponds via bike with my friends fishing for largemouth bass. After 8th grade my family made the decision to move up to Vermont. It’s here where I fell in love with Smallmouth bass and trout in the many streams and lakes that Vermont had to offer. After finishing High School I went on to play college hockey in my home state at the University of Delaware. When it was not hockey season you could find me in the salt on the Chesapeake Bay fly-fishing for Striped bass, Redfish, and Speckled Trout. During the summers in between school, I would take teammates out with me on my boat and share with them the Chesapeake Bay’s rich history, ecology, and most importantly the fish that lived there. It was these summers that made me realize I wanted to be a guide. After finishing school at the University of Delaware I found Phantom Charters and was asked to join the team in 2025.  I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to guide in one of the most beautiful and abundant fisheries in the world.

I started my journey enjoying the waters off Long Island, NY where I got my feet wet fishing along the Atlantic shore.

I moved to Florida in the mid 90’s where I continued my love for the water and developed my fishing skills. It was on the waters of the Gulf of America where my passion for fishing crossed paths with my sense of freedom and love for the open seas. This was the deciding factor in choosing the captains life.

In 2022 I had my first experience in the Alaskan wilderness while visiting my son who is stationed in Anchorage. I spent my first season working in the Southeast Alaska on Prince of Wales Island. From there I moved inland to Talkeetna to work for Phantom Tri River Charters in 2025. I look forward to future seasons with Phantom.

ADDISON

I am originally from northeast Louisiana from a very outdoor oriented family where hunting and fishing were a major part of life. After finishing high school in Costa Rica I moved to Montana where I found a love of sharing my passion for the outdoors with others by cutting my teeth on the Big Hole and Beaverhead Rivers. After several years as a nationally touring musician, my wife and I decided to relocate to central Texas and get back to the basics, as well as continue the tradition of sharing the great outdoors with others. In the winter, you can find me enjoying helping folks catch various bass species as well as trout on the Guadalupe River, in addition to the occasional gig or backpacking trip to get away. I’m looking forward to a great season here in Talkeetna!

MIKE

I grew up in Virginia on my uncle’s Black Angus cattle farm in the Appalachian Mountains. Although we had plenty of trout in our mountain streams, I leaned more toward hunting and riding horses. I headed out west and worked as a ranch hand in Wyoming and New Mexico. From there I took on seasonal work as a hunting guide assistant and wrangler for a big game outfitter hunting elk, mule deer, bear, mountain lion, and javelina. Later, while guiding bear hunts in Northern California and Oregon, I got the opportunity to guide steelhead and salmon fishing trips in a drift boat on the Klamath River. Eventually ending up in Texas attending horseshoeing school, and after my apprenticeship I started my own farrier service business.

I am now happy to have new adventures in the Great White North and look forward to sharing those with you in 2026.

Fishing is my passion! I am honestly fishing any chance I get. Throwing conventional gear and fly, but my heart always pulls me back to fly fishing. Primarily targeting tarpon and redfish in my home state of Texas, but I am also deeply involved with conservation efforts on the coast and regularly work with CCA Texas. Volunteering with a local conservation lab where I tag juvenile tarpon and snook, helping them further their studies on the movement and habitats of the juveniles. I look forward to spreading my love for fishing, the outdoors and dedication to conservation with everyone in 2026 with Phantom.

SHANE

The tradition of fishing had its hooks in me from an early age.  Growing up in Virginia, my younger brother and I would fish the ponds around our family’s farm for largemouth bass, with the occasional saltwater trip to the Eastern shore with our dad.  Over time, I began to realize and appreciate the abundance Virginia has to offer – from Brook trout, smallmouth, and musky up in the mountains to redfish, flounder, and cobia in the Tidewater.

For the past decade, I’ve fished all over the country, and spent countless hours on the tidal Potomac, a unique brackish fishery home to both freshwater and saltwater species, including my favorite: the infamous and elusive Northern Snakehead..

Over time, I realized the greatest reward in fishing isn’t the catch itself but putting others on fish and creating lasting memories. After years of pursuing career paths driven by status and income. I was lucky enough to find out what I truly loved and to realize that the one thing I can never make more of is time. Alaska represents the ultimate expression of that choice.  It’s a place of immense scale, raw power, and untamed fisheries where skill, work ethic, and respect for the water are integral. This will be my first season, and I’m excited to bring my experience and passion North, and to help others experience unforgettable days on the water in one of the most awe-inspiring places left on Earth.

I grew up in the state of Maine in commercial fishing family. I began my river guiding work in the Forks, Maine. I moved out west in 2000 and started guiding multi day river trips on the Colorado river in Utah and Arizona. I have spent majority of the past 25 years guiding fishing on the Middle Fork of the Salmon and the Selway rivers in Idaho, as well as rivers in Montana. I also guided elk and mule deer hunts in the Bob Marshall wilderness and currently reside in Montana during the off season. I look forward to helping you build memories for 2026 with Phantom in the wilds of Alaska.

I was born and raised in Texas, but from a young age I found myself captivated by Alaska. I used to read books about the landscape, wildlife, and way of life, hoping one day I would be able to experience it firsthand. In the summer of 2024, I had the opportunity to visit Alaska. During my trip I went fishing with Phantom and loved it. The Phantom crew went above and beyond to make sure I had an unforgettable experience, because of them, I discovered a genuine passion for fishing.

After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, I was fortunate enough to join the team in 2025. Being out on the water, surrounded by the beautiful scenery and good people became a memorable experience that I can’t wait to continue. It makes me happy to be apart of the crew helping others make memories that will change their lives just as it did mine.
